About Rich and Nate
Rich grew up in Cleveland during the long, torturous era where the Browns’ greatest achievement was inventing new and creative ways to lose. He loved two things more than anything: wrestling in dingy high school gyms and yelling at his TV about blown coverages. Naturally, he raised his son Nate the same way.
By age 8, Nate had spent 3 years on the mat. By age 10, he could name every Browns quarterback since Bernie Kosar — which was an unhealthy number of names for such a young brain to hold. By age 12, he was correcting his dad on the obscure Browns and Notre Dame stats.
So when Rich and Nate found themselves, years later, sitting around after a particularly bad Browns loss (it was Week 1, naturally), they realized they had two choices: 1. Cry into a plate of pierogies. 2. Start a podcast.
They chose the second option.
They called it “Flagrant Foul” — partly because it sounded tough, partly because Rich thought it was a basketball term, and partly because Nate just liked saying it dramatically into a microphone.
The show was chaos. One minute, they were breaking down Browns draft busts like they were discussing Shakespearean tragedies. The next, Rich was challenging Nate to describe which Star Wars character would make the best middle linebacker (Chewbacca, obviously). Every episode ended with a debate over whether Journey or Metallica would win in a no-holds-barred cage match, and somehow it always ended with Rich screaming “Don’t Stop Believin’” while Nate threw his headset in mock disgust.
Their listeners — mostly other tortured Browns fans, a few ex-wrestlers, and at least one guy who just thought it was a music review show — loved it.
The podcast didn’t make them rich (though one guy did pay them $20 on Venmo to stop singing Bon Jovi), but it gave them something better: a reason to laugh every week.
And in Cleveland, if you can laugh and still root for the Browns, you’ve basically achieved enlightenment.
Friends of the Show
The Flagrant Family — Regulars, Ringers, and Repeat Offenders
It wouldn’t be Flagrant Foul with Rich and Nate without the cast of characters who drop by to stir the pot. From diehard fans, family and friends to expert analysts (and a few professional hot-take artists), these friends of the show keep the energy high and the arguments louder.
Whether they’re calling in with wild predictions, talking shit on Rich and Nate, breaking down bad coaching decisions, or defending hopeless teams with alarming conviction — our guests bring personality, passion, and plenty of laughs.
Meet the rotating crew that helps make every episode unpredictable, unfiltered, and undeniably Flagrant.
Big D
Elite Senior Athlete. Jiu-Jitsu Warrior. Highland Games Competitor. American Hero. Football Guru.
Drafted first overall in the Armchair Analyst League, Big Dave has spent decades perfecting his craft — yelling at TVs, outsmarting coordinators, and reminding everyone he “saw that play coming a mile away.” When he’s not breaking down game film, he’s breaking records — from the senior track circuit to the Highland Games field — or rolling through jiu-jitsu sessions like it’s fourth-and-goal. A true American hero with the heart of a champion and the knees of a 30-year veteran, Big Dave brings grit, glory, and gridiron gospel to every appearance.
HBJ
Cleveland Sports Homer. Ohio State Loyalist. Lacrosse Legend.
HBJ bleeds scarlet, gray, and just a little bit of heartbreak. A lifelong Cleveland sports diehard, he’s powered by hope, caffeine, and the belief that “this is the year.” When he’s not defending Ohio State with the intensity of a linebacker, he’s reminding everyone he once dominated the lacrosse field — and probably still could, if the knee cooperated. Equal parts optimism and delusion, HBJ brings passion, pride, and a touch of chaos.
Old Lady Green Beans
Show Mom. Beer Runner. All-Around Great Gal.
Every team needs a glue guy — or in this case, a glue gal — and that’s Old Lady Green Beans. She keeps the chaos on schedule, the beers cold, and the boys mostly under control. Part show mom, part sideline MVP, she’s the first to cheer, the last to judge, and always the one who makes sure everyone gets home in one piece. Whether she’s running logistics or running laps around everyone’s beer tolerance, Old Lady Green Beans proves that every championship team needs heart — and snacks.
The Bear aka Russell
Pot Stirrer. Little Ball of Hate. Champion of All Causes. Lover of the Show.
The Bear doesn’t just join the conversation — she detonates it. Equal parts chaos engine and comic relief, she brings a fiery mix of passion, sarcasm, and unstoppable energy to every debate. Whether she’s defending her position, challenging logic, or stirring the pot just to see what happens, The Bear thrives on mayhem and good vibes in equal measure. Fierce, fearless, and always a fan favorite, she’s the heartbeat (and occasional heartburn) of Flagrant Foul with Rich and Nate.
Egg
Shirtless Browns Supporter. Backup QB of Every Team’s Dreams. One Part Rat Voice, One Part Your Mother’s Role Model.
Egg is a one-man fan section and a walking motivational poster — if that poster was slightly sweaty and yelling about the Browns. Known for his shirtless sideline celebrations and questionable vocal range, Egg brings the kind of passion you can’t coach and the kind of confidence you probably shouldn’t. He’s the backup quarterback every NFL team wishes they had: fiery, loyal, and completely unbothered by playbooks. Whether he’s rallying the Dawg Pound or offering life lessons mid-rant, Egg is proof that heart — and volume — can take you a long way.
